Five members of the marketing team gathered on the morning of Thursday, December 6, to wrap about 150 holiday presents for Arizonans for Children.

Western Window Systems web developer Jen Davenport, the point person for the effort, says: “We picked the gifts from huge boxes of donations, wrapped the presents, put them in a bag, and then it did all over again.”

Arizonans for Children is an organization whose mission is to facilitate opportunities that provide effective solutions to alleviate hardships and improve the fragile lives of the abused, abandoned, and neglected children in foster care. Previously, the marketing team had worked with the group to clean up the playground at one of its locations.

According to Arizonans for Children executive director Laura Pahules, each child typically receives an assortment of five or six gifts, including a blanket, book, ball, board game, and three to five toys.

The children received the gifts at Arizonans for Children’s annual holiday party on December 15 at the Mesa Interstake Center, where nearly a thousand people attended.

“Boys and girls of all ages danced in line as their caretakers checked them in to enter the holiday party,” says Pahules. “They hopped and squealed as they greeted acquaintances residing in other group homes. Some of the most touching scenes involved siblings that had been brought into foster care and then separated and sent to different placements. The only time they get to see their siblings is at our party.”
