Continuing its longstanding tradition of helping the community, Western Window Systems has donated more than $2,000 worth of lumber and hardware to a Phoenix school in time for its annual Halloween Carnival.

Central Phoenix’s Villa Montessori School will put the lumber and supplies in the hands of a group of volunteers who will build a pirate-themed haunted house for the nonprofit carnival, an all-ages community-building event on Saturday, October 29.

“It’s such a fun event that the Villa Montessori neighborhood rallies around,” says Western Window Systems president and CEO Scott Gates. “It’s just a small way to give back to our community.”

Western Window Systems donated 350 2x3x8 boards, plywood sheeting, paint, and hardware for use in the construction of the 40-foot-by-40-foot haunted house.

Run by parents and middle-school volunteers, the one-day-only four-hour event is expected to draw more than 500 children and their parents. In addition to the haunted house (the centerpiece attraction of the carnival), there will be a bounce house, a pirate ship ride, crafts and activities, and food.

Opened in 1964, Villa Montessori in Central Phoenix is notable for being the first Montessori school in Phoenix and one of the first charter schools in Arizona.
