From expanding space to illuminating natural light to fresh air, there are countless benefits to indoor-outdoor living – and countless ways to make it a part of differentiating a home. Here, we’ve rounded up three of Western Window Systems’ top innovations in moving glass door systems, which have been designed to offer builders a range of indoor-outdoor solutions based on budget, demand, and the bottom line.

90-Degree Configurations

For an indoor-outdoor living showstopper, a Western Window Systems’ multi-slide door in a 90-degree configuration is perfect for completely opening up the corner and sides of a room. Especially effective for homes with outdoor amenities like patio dining areas, pools, and outdoor kitchens, our 90-degree multi-slide doors are available in high-quality aluminum, energy-efficient aluminum, and vinyl to accommodate your project’s location and budget.

To enhance the views around its community surrounding a golf course in Arizona, Toll Brothers utilized several Western Window Systems aluminum and vinyl multi-slide doors throughout its eight home collections, including a 90-degree configuration seamlessly connecting the indoors to an outdoor pool area.

Pocketing 90-degree doors further opened up indoor and outdoor living spaces to breathtaking views of the California hillside in this master-planned community north of San Diego by Standard Pacific Homes. And in North Scottsdale, Shea Homes highlighted the delights of al fresco dining by using a Western Window Systems 90-degree aluminum multi-slide door to expand space from a large outdoor dining patio to the indoors.

Easy-Install Vinyl

In addition to being the most economical solution to differentiate homes through indoor-outdoor living, Western Window Systems Series 3700 Vinyl Multi-Slide Door may also be one of the easiest to install. Ideal for builders looking for ways to differentiate their homes from those of other builders with similar price points, the Series 3700 Vinyl Multi-Slide Door features a “floating” sill track that makes it highly adaptable to a variety of flooring substrate conditions, two nail fin set-back options for faster and easier installation, and a snap-in interlock so there are no gaps for unwanted light or air. Designed to fit into most 2×4 and 2×6 openings, the three-panel configuration of the Series 3700 requires no additional framing, and its 6’8” height option better accommodates lower ceiling heights.

Options, Options, Options

Because of the variations in home styles, we designed our multi-slide and bi-fold doors with a wide array of options that let you differentiate your indoor-outdoor solutions as you see fit. From sizes and configurations to floor tracks and colors, Western Window Systems lets you customize your functional and aesthetic preferences. Here are a few highlights:

Energy Solutions: For energy efficiency in a variety of weather conditions, Western Window Systems’ Series 7000 Aluminum Multi-Slide and Bi-Fold Doors feature a .30 U-value for standard, low-E, argon-filled dual-pane glass. Plus, they’re compliant with California’s rigorous Title 24 requirements in both the prescriptive and performance methods.

Semi-Custom Sizes: Western Window Systems’ custom size and configuration options give builders more design flexibility than ever to differentiate their homes. Plus, most come with an incredible 15-day production lead time. To see if they’re right for you, watch our video.

Sill Options: For our aluminum multi-slide and bi-fold doors, we offer two water barrier sills in different sizes and pressure ratings, each with a weep-hole system to safeguard against water intrusion. When ease of entry is more important than performance against the elements, our flush sill is the perfect choice, with an interior and exterior sill height of just .75”.
